In This Bulletin What You Won't See Are Pictures, But Read on AnywayDue to technical difficulties with the District 6900 web platform, we are unable to post or see pictures for the next few days in our bulletin or on the website. But there's still a lot going on with Dunwoody Rotary so please read on to learn about: - this week's speaker - Maro Innocent-Otolo, our GRSP student from Nigeria
- this Saturday's Dunwoody Diners gathering - reservations are due by tomorrow, March 31
- our upcoming golf tournament and how you can help
- our opportunity for volunteering at the Dunwoody Arts Festival
- Bob O'Brien and Lorri Christopher and the special awards they received from the DeKalb Rotary Council
- a request for your ideas about applying for a $10,000 competitive grant through District 6900 for a local community service need
And check out the calendar for more details on what's happening in the weeks to come. This Week's Speaker Maro Innocent-Otolo, Our 2021-22 GRSP StudentLearn more this Friday about Oghenemaro Innocent-Otolo - better known to us as Maro - who joined us from Nigeria last August through the Georgia Rotary Student Program (GRSP). She will introduce us to Nigeria, her family and culture in Friday's presentation, and tell us more about herself. You can join us in person at LeMeridien or via Zoom at https://us02web.zoom.us/j/86202979419Fellowship Opportunity Join Dunwoody Diners and Support Ukraine Relief - April 2The next
Dunwoody Diners will happen at 7 PM on Saturday, April 2 - tomorrow, March 31, is the last day to sign up for an evening of fun and food at Aomi Restaurant (hibachi) in The Forum on Peachtree Parkway. This will be a
special event since all diners will be asked to make a contribution (large or
small) to the Rotary
Ukraine Disaster Relief Fund.
For newer members, this is a
great way to meet other members (and their significant others) in a relaxed
setting. Conversation is casual, the is food good, and the cost is typically
between $40-$50 per person (before tax and tip). These dinners allow you the
opportunity to really get to know a few Rotarians much better than possible at
our Friday meetings. Restaurant: Aomi Restaurant (hibachi) in The Forum on Peachtree Parkway Address: 5145 Peachtree Pkwy #470A, Peachtree
Corners, GA 30092 Phone: (770) 840-8710 Please RSVP to either Ken
or Sherry Levy by tomorrow, March 31, 2022, if you plan to attend. kennethlevy99@gmail.com or (770) 686-2651
sherrylevy13@hotmail.com (770) 286-3764 Congratulations Bob O'Brien and Lorri Christopher Honored at DeKalb Rotary CouncilAt last Friday's DeKalb Rotary Council breakfast, two Dunwoody Rotarians received special recognition: - Bob O'Brien received the "Show Rotary Cares" award - honoring all he does for the club and community - including chairing this year's inaugural golf tournament and other fundraising efforts. Bob has been a Dunwoody Rotarian since October 2014. The "Show Rotary Cares" award is given in honor of our own PDG Bill Mulkey - reflecting the Rotary International theme when he served as DG.
Lorri Christopher received the "You are the Key" award. One Rotarian is nominated by each of the DeKalb Rotary Council clubs and the awards committee selects the recipient. Lorri was honored for her key support to the DeKalb Rotary Council (where she serves as Treasurer), District 6900 (where she has served as an Assistant Governor and in other capacities) and GRSP (where she serves as Secretary of the Executive Committee). This award is given in honor of PDG Bob Grant from Stone Mountain - named for the RI theme his year as DG.
Congrats and THANK YOU to Bob and Lorri for all they do. A Special Music Event ... May 1 at St. Patrick's EpiscopalSt. Patrick’s Episcopal (where
Rotarian Dick Game is the priest) is delighted to present a benefit concert on
Sunday, May 1 at 7PM. Dr. Cagdas Soylar will present piano works by some of the
great composers, with a string quartet and a choral ensemble from Dunwoody High
School.
Tickets are $10 in advance or
$15 at the door. Buy your tickets on-line at tinyurl.com/stpatrickconcert (Children
under 10 years of age are free.) Desserts and drinks will be offered. Proceeds
will benefit the church with a portion going to Ukraine relief efforts.
