No Meeting This Friday Join Us at Chupitos for Thirsty Thursday
We won't be meeting this Friday. Instead, join in the fun and fellowship at Chupitos this Thursday, February 20 (tomorrow) as we gather for Thirsty Thursday. Festivities begin at 5:30 pm; Chupitos is located at 1412 Dunwoody Village Parkway, Atlanta, GA 30338 GRSP Leadership Weekend Students Pack Dunwoody's 100,000th Meal for Rise Against Hunger
When 36 GRSP students and Rotarians gathered Saturday morning to pack meals for Rise Against Hunger, little did we know that the Rotary Club of Dunwoody would be honored by Rise Against Hunger for reaching the 100,000-meal mark! President Louise and weekend chair Jackie Cuthbert accepted the award for our work over the last ten years! This year's 10,000 meals are headed to elementary school students in Honduras; last year our 10,000 meals were sent to Ukraine. It's just one way that our work with the Georgia Rotary Student Program touches more than just this GRSP class. More on our GRSP weekend next week! Golf Tournament Update Sponsorships and Auction Items Anyone? The secret to success of our Fore the Memories! Golf Tournament on May 19 is just the opposite - turning the $45,000 we raised last year into something bigger than $50,000 in 2025! For that, we can use your enthusiastic help! After all, the money we raise goes to support the Georgia Alzheimer's Associate "The Longest Day" program, Anchor Place Respite Care, and the other work we do in the community and around the world!
Thanks
for your support so far.
We especially need your help in gaining sponsorships for the $2,500 Hole in
One, $2,500 Putting Contest and most importantly, the $,2,500 Ditty Bag
sponsorship that includes Ditty Bags with your name or logo. We are asking for
help in making contact with a potential $20,000 Signature sponsor as well! We also have openings in $1,000 Hole sponsorships as well as simply becoming a $250
Contributing sponsor, a $100 Donating sponsor or even a $25 Participating
sponsor! Then there's our auction: Neal
MacDonald is our tournament Auction Committee Head and we encourage you to contact him about helping with that. We are looking to acquire auction items
such as restaurant and other retail type gift cards, baskets of your own design
such as wine or cosmetics, and destination packages to lake homes, hotel
weekends or beach vacations. We’ll have some jewelry items and possibly some
sports and movie memorabilia on consignment. If you have items at home to
donate, please make sure they are new and unused. The
most current information can be found on the tournament website at www.rcdgolftournament.com Spotlight Mark Galvin, Our Dynamic Public Image Chair
This week's spotlight is on Mark Galvin, the man behind the
curtain every meeting and our dynamic Public Image Chair. Mark brings a wealth
of experience to our club, having served in various leadership roles within the
hospitality industry for over 30 years. As Director of Marketing for Discover
Dunwoody, he promotes tourism in our vibrant city, leveraging his expertise
from renowned hotel brands like InterContinental, Hyatt, Marriott, and
Omni. He initially joined the Rotary Club of Brookhaven in 2016 to
expand his network while he was running his own marketing company. That club
awarded him the Rotarian of the Year in 2018. Later he went to work
at Discover Dunwoody and was looking for a way to get more involved in his
community. After joining our club, he was named Rookie of the Year in
2024. For our club, Mark wants our club to attract more members. "We do
such a good job at so many things that it’s surprising we don’t have more new
people coming in the door all the time."
Mark is a native Atlantan - his grandfather moved to the
area in the 1930s to play catcher for the Atlanta Crackers - and he is also a
graduate of the Marist School. Beyond his professional achievements, Mark is a
dedicated family man. He and his wife, Stephanie, have been married for 31
years and have three children - Caitlin, Claire, and James (pictured). They are
active members of Immaculate Heart of Mary Church. Rotary Means Business Join RMB on February 25 Join us on Tuesday, February 25, from 6-8pm at Politan Row,
Ashford Lane in Dunwoody. It’s the perfect opportunity to network with fellow
Rotarians, Rotaractors, and professionals from all over the Atlanta area. Come
mingle, share ideas, and grow your network in a vibrant, welcoming atmosphere!
"Each Rotarian is a connecting
link between the idealism of Rotary and their trade or profession.” -Paul
