This Week's Speaker
Billy Grogan, Chief of Police, City of Dunwoody

Join us this Friday to welcome our own Billy Grogan, Chief of Police for the City of Dunwoody. You can join in person at Le Meridien or online via Zoom at https://us02web.zoom.us/j/89796844807

Billy became the first Chief of Police for the new City of Dunwoody in December 2008 after completing a 28-year career with the Marietta Police Department as a Deputy Chief. He has a Masters of Public Administration from Kennesaw State University and is a graduate of the 193rd Session of the FBI National Academy.

Chief Grogan is an accomplished international speaker and has trained law enforcement across the United States, Egypt, Hungary, and the Republic of Georgia. He is a published author and expert in law enforcement’s use of social media. Chief Grogan has served as president of the Georgia Association of Chiefs of Police and has been serving on the IACP Human and Civil Rights Committee since 2006.

He is committed to providing fair and impartial policing services to the citizens of Dunwoody and firmly believes that trust is the foundation of the Dunwoody Police Department’s relationship with its community.

Billy has been a Dunwoody Rotarian since 2009, sponsored by Rick Otness.

Spruill Center Launches Arts for Alzheimer's

The Spruill Center for the Arts is pleased to begin Arts for Alzheimer’s, a pilot art education program aimed at increasing the well-being of individuals living with memory loss and their care partners through engagement in the arts. The program is being offered this fall at no charge to participants and is now open for registration.

Each month, teaching artist Amanda Williams will guide participants through an examination of a prominent artist and their works.   Individuals and their care partners will explore a variety of mediums designed to engage and connect them to the monthly class theme and they will create a work of art inspired by that month’s featured artist. In this pilot program, those artists include Henry Ossawa Tanner, Henri Mattise, Hanna Hoch and Claes Oldenburg.

Arts for Alzheimer’s begins September 14 and will be held every 2nd Wednesday through December 14.  Registration is available at https://registration.spruillarts.org/wconnect/ace/CourseStatus.awp?&course=224AFA100

Our Rotary Club is a partner of the Spruill Center for the Arts.

Congratulations!
Cheers to Doing Good Around the World

Congratulations to Past President Carter Stout and the entire club for receiving a Rotary Citation for all we did in the 2021-22 Rotary year. Let's keep it going!
