PCMS Quiz bowl

Quiz bowl is a friendly competition against the Peachtree Charter Middle School (PCMS) Quiz bowl team. The competition includes questions about history, literature, math and pop culture. Rotary Club of Dunwoody won last year in a very close competition.

Rotary members Tom Lashway and John Mills have been assisting PCMS teacher Ms. Shannon McCartha with practice this year.

Be the Inspiration

RI Presidential Theme 2018-2019

2018-19 RI President Barry Rassin announces his presidential theme, Be the Inspiration, at Rotary's International Assembly.
Rotary International President-elect Barry Rassin laid out his vision for the future of the organization on Sunday, 14 January, calling on leaders to work for a sustainable future and to inspire Rotarians and the community at large.
Rassin, a member of the Rotary Club of East Nassau, New Providence, Bahamas, unveiled the 2018-19 presidential theme, Be the Inspiration, to incoming district governors at Rotary’s International Assembly in San Diego, California, USA. “I want you to inspire in your clubs, your Rotarians, that desire for something greater. The drive to do more, to be more, to create something that will live beyond each of us.”
Rassin stressed the power of Rotary’s new vision statement, “Together, we see a world where people unite and take action to create lasting change across the globe, in our communities, and in ourselves.” This describes the Rotary that leaders must help build, he said.
To achieve this vision, the president-elect said, Rotarians must take care of the organization: “We are a membership organization first. And if we want to be able to serve, if we want to succeed in our goals — we have to take care of our members first.”

Rotary Youth Exchange letter

- Here is a new message to our club members from one of our two current Rotary Youth Exchange scholarship recipients from Dunwoody High School. -

Hello Rotary Club of Dunwoody!!
Happy Belated January. This month was very exciting for me! At the beginning of the month I participated in an English camp hosted by my school in the northeast of Thailand. I was quite surprised to see how developed my host school’s English program is. The camp lasted for 3 days and was quite fun to help out with all the activities! I’ve really settled into life here and the culture has started to click with me. Every day I’m noticing my habits changing. My 2nd host mom has been taking me traveling to many places all around Thailand such as Phu Kradueng, a large mountain in the north, and to Nakhon Sri Thammarat, her hometown. My Thai is getting better and the food is really starting to grow on me. Even after 6 months there is hardly a dull day. I still attend my Rotary club twice per month and have been speaking regularly as well. Thanks again for sponsoring me to Thailand.

Sincerely,

Henry

NEW AR PAYMENT PROCEDURES

Now that the club has tested its new online billing payment process for the last few quarters, we are moving to further enhance the efficiency of the collection process. All invoices sent are due upon receipt, and the club will allow some time for payment receipt. The board has approved a new policy that effective with the 4/1/18 invoicing process, any member who has a past due balance of 90 days will be asked for a credit card or account to be placed on file to allow automatic collection. If the member is 90 days past due, and refuses to provide the automatic collection information, the Board will be asked to terminate that member at the next Board meeting.
Please reach out to Cathie Brumfield (CBrumfield@MagnoliaFinancial.com) with any questions on this new policy.
