No Meeting This Week; Dunwoody Rotarians Race to SanDestin!
The Club will not have a meeting this week, as 30+ members of the Dunwoody Family of Rotart head south for District Conference! It's a great opportunity to spend time with each other and members of the 69 other clubs that are part of District 6900 - and get great ideas! This year our own PDG Bill Woulfin is the Co-Conference Chair and Jeannette Prince plays a critical role in everything conference! Our Club is working with the Rotary Club of Thomasville to staff the registration desk and we are hosting a hospitality suite with the Rotary Club of Sandy Springs, home of next year's District Governor. The photos here recap just a few of the fun times we enjoyed at district conference. There's always a conference theme and a chance for crazy costumes - like the airplane hats PDG Bill Mulkey, PP Gary Lane and Dennis Springer are donning, or the pirate hats for PP Anne Glenn and Charter Member Teak Pacetti. If you haven't attended a conference and aren't joining us in Sandestin this year - think about coming next April! You won't regret it. Celebrating Our Birthday - Just a Week Ahead of the Actual Day
Last Thursday, at least 30 members of the Dunwoody Family of Rotary gathered at Marlowe's Tavern in Dunwoody for an advance celebration of the club's 35th birthday. Our actual birthday - this Thursday, April 25. President-Elect Cathie Brumfield coordinated the event - as a special edition of our regular Thirsty Thursday events! Charter Member Teak Pacetti and our current president Rick Woods cut the birthday cake!
We plan to keep the celebration going throughout the year - in our club bulletin, at the Fourth of July parade, and at our regular special events. And, we look forward to creating new history as we make a difference and have fun doing it in RCD's next 35 years!

Dunwoody 2019 Polio Campaign Underway
The Rotary Club of Dunwoody has supported Rotary International's initiative to eradicate polio with our hearts, hands and checkbooks since that effort started. Charter member Bob Mingus became the first Dunwoody Rotarian to receive a Paul Harris Fellow for Polio. PDG Robert and Charlene Hall, Roy Wise and Past President Laura Kann have all participated in National Immunization Days in India. And last year, thanks to the generosity of our members, we raised $40,000 and took our total giving on behalf of Polio to more than $150,000.
Our 2019 Polio Plus
campaign goal is raising $25,000. This is part of Rotary International's three-year campaign to help get across the finish line with Polio eradication (we are in year 2 of that campaign). Rick has asked that all members consider donating at least $100 so that we can quickly and easily reach our goal.
Contributions count toward individual recognition as a Paul Harris Fellow of Major Donor to The Rotary Foundation. That makes this a wonderful time to review your Paul Harris Fellow status. Remember, we have a
lot of matching funds. If you’re getting close to a new level of PHF, we can
double your contribution and help you reach your goal. All Rotarians want to be
Major Donors. Let us help you get there. If you have questions, please reach
out to Rick Woods or PDG Bill Mulkey.
State of the City Event a Success
Thanks to all Dunwoody Rotarians who came out to help with the Dunwoody State of the City Event. We staffed a table to tell the story of Dunwoody Rotary and President Rick served as the emcee for the evening. Special thanks to Tom Lashway for coordinating our efforts!
