Whiskey Raffle Update
Only Two Weeks and Two Meetings Left for the Whiskey Raffle!

Glenmorangie Scotch tasting led by Neal MacDonald

We’ve had two of our four scheduled whiskey tastings leading up to the raffle. There’s still time for you to invite friends and colleagues for two more! These are great opportunities for fellowship as well as a way to raise the visibility of the Rotary club and the raffle.

  • Thursday, November 6, 6:00pm at Politan Row – HIGH WEST WHISKEY ($10): Our third whiskey tasting sponsored by Winebow Importers will take place at Streaker’s Pub at Politan Row. It features whiskey from High West Distillery of Utah, specializing in blended rye and bourbon whiskeys. There is a small charge of $10/person for this event and will include multiple pours of some of High West’s best products. Register ahead to guarantee a seat. (Note: the time has been updated from prior announcements at 7:00pm to now 6:00pm.)
  • Thursday, November 13, 7:00pm at Louisiana Bistreaux – WHISKEY TASTING ($49): Our final tasting event is only one week before the raffle itself. This is a prestige event for $49. It will feature Louisiana Bistreaux appetizers specifically designed to pair with five tastings of Whistle Pig, a premium producer of rye and bourbon. There will be samples of 6 yr rye and bourbon; 10 yr rye and bourbon; and a special edition of 12 yr “Old World Rye.”
  • Thirsty Thursday, November 20, 5:30pm at Politan Row, THE RAFFLE ITSELF: This leads up to the raffle itself back at Politan Row! We’ll draw live, at the Politan row bar for holiday edition of Thirsty Thursday.

Please remember to promote the event in-person and on your social media feeds. There are still hundreds of tickets available for the best prize pool that Rotary Club of Dunwoody has ever put on offer - and they're available for sale at www.whiskey-raffle.com (tell a friend!)!

Thanks for Your Service
We Dished Up Lots of Food and Good Will!

We were quite busy in October. In addition to our visit to Bounds Garden, we appreciate the team of volunteers who gathered at the Zambris' home to make ham & cheese sandwiches for The Sandwich Project! We made short work of the task for a very worthy cause under the leadership of Meghan with help from husband, Pete and had fun afterward with wine and conversation!

We also thank the volunteers who baked cookies and/or joined us at the USO at Atlanta Hartsfield-Jackson Airport - serving hotdogs, lasagna, cookies and fruit to our service men and women. Dunwoody hosts at the USO twice each year and has for more than 15 years.

Toys for Tots
Keep Our Toys for Tots Tradition of Giving Alive!

An initiative of the Marine Corps Reserve, Toys for Tots strives to deliver joy and send a message of hope to America’s disadvantaged children through the gift of a toy or a book. Since its founding in 1947, Toys for Tots has distributed 705 million toys to 314 million deserving children.

The Rotary Club of Dunwoody has supported Toys for Tots every year since 2008 - and this year is no exception! We'll be collecting new, unwrapped toys, dolls, bicycles and craft kits on Friday, December 5, at our annual holiday luncheon. Help the Marines and Jim and Janet Glass make this one of the best drives ever.

And be sure you have marked your calendar for the holiday luncheon! Details coming soon.

End Polio Now
Help Us End Polio

As you know, October is Polio Plus and November is Rotary Foundation month.  I invite you to become a member of Polio Plus Society and pledge to make an annual donation of $100 (or more) to the Polio Plus foundation.  Because the Gates foundation matches donations two for one, Your donation of $100 nets a donation to Polio Plus of $300.   If you are unable to commit to an annual donation, You may make a one-time donation and still get a two for one match.

Please make a check payable to Rotary Club of Dunwoody, designate the funds Polio Plus and give it to Carter Stout.  You may instead make a donation online at https://my.rotary.org/en/ - if you donate online, please forward me the letter or email that RI Foundation sends you for tax purposes so that I can record it.

I am grateful to you for making a difference in world health.
