Join us this Friday at Maggiano's to welcome Dr. Ioana Bonta, a board-certified physician in medical oncology, practicing general oncology with an interest in thoracic and head and neck oncology.

She completed her medical degree at Carol Davila University of Medicine and Pharmacy in Bucharest and after graduation relocated to Chicago. She spent the next six years working in cancer research at the University of Chicago in Dr. Maryellen Giger’s lab. Dr. Bonta completed her Internal Medicine residency at Michel Reese Hospital in Chicago and a Fellowship in Medical Ethics at the University of Chicago, MacLean Center for Clinical Medical Ethics as well as a fellowship in Hematology and Oncology at Boston University.

She is the author of scientific articles and proceedings, and holds two patents on computerized image analysis and prognosis (artificial intelligence). Over the years she was a Principal Investigator or a sub- investigator for several clinical trials involving novel approaches in cancer treatment.

Dr. Bonta received numerous accolades including Top Doctor Lifetime Award in the Global Directory of Who’s Who, Castle Connolly Top Doctor 2024 and 2025.

Currently Dr. Bonta practices as a Hematologist Oncologist at Northside Hospital in Atlanta and is a principal investigator for several clinical trials for solid tumors. She also holds a position as an adjunct clinical assistant professor at Morehouse School of Medicine and serves as IRB chair for the Northside Hospital system.
