Dunwoody Police Foundation

Our Club members donated $5000.00 to the Dunwoody Police Foundation (DPF) to help provide training, equipment, aid to injured officers and bereaved families.  Real Impact Example:  Our $5000 donated to DPF's general funds helped with the $48,000 purchase the department's LifeVac (a choking rescue device), which has already saved the life of a 5-year-old child, and a precious 18-month old Dunwoody toddler.   Dunwoody Mayor Lynn Deutsch commented: “It’s a wonderful series of events that led to saving a life.  In the Hebrew faith we say, when you save a life, you save the world, and it certainly happened in this case.”

Contributions to DPF's general fund have also enabled the purchase and training of a new K-9 police dog to search out illegal drugs, explosives and people during disasters, plus the important Flock safe (license plate) readers that help travelers through our heavily used roads stay safe. Although the (29) police are the direct beneficiaries, the entire Dunwoody Community of over 51,000 benefits by having the service of well equipment law enforcement. Several Dunwoody Rotarians attended the Dunwoody Police Citizen Academy which is a 3 hour 13-week course. Some of these volunteers will help monitor the CCTV  in headquarters and ride along patrols.

Partner Involvement
Dunwoody Police Foundation and Dunwoody Police Department. RCD Rotarians on the Foundation Board include Jim Glass, Fred Brandt, and honorary member, Mayor Lynn Duetsch. the Foundation purchases the devices and dogs.
